Moving Forward by Looking Back

In preparing for the major share-presentation on May 9 it is going imperative that we reflect back on the progress made throughout our TLLP and reveal our discoveries. Looking back on the lesson and learning that was conducted back in November using Jessic's Grade 9 Learning Strategies/English class reveals that students in general have a natural appreciation for graphic text. More importantly, the approach to symbolism and literary devices used in graphic text seemed to be easier for students to not only understand but also enjoy when accompanied by illustrations.  One item that I feel we need to present to our colleagues on May 9 are the techniques used in graphic novels and comics to achieve symbolism and convey literary devices. By doing so, our colleagues will be more inclined to use graphic text as a form of literature in their respective classes.
