April 9th Release Day Activities

We met today to debrief about the sharing presentations at our April 4 P.D. day with our staff.  We will be posting the results of the survey and making a few recommendations to our Principal about what we learned.  I am also planning to add a few how-to videos about some of the things we used but did not really talk about in the presentation like Google Forms for the survey and QR code generators and readers.

I also have the opportunity to speak as the MISA conference in London, ON tomorrow.  I am meeting with my co-presenter, Joe Sisco today.  While we are not talking directly about the Literacy aspect of our project, we will be talking about the use Google Apps for Education and Blended Learning, both of which are key aspects of our iPad/Tech portion of our project so I hope to get a few words in about the TLLP and our own project.

We also began our planning for our "big" sharing day in May where we will invite all of the members of the English Department in our school, one teacher from each of the remaining schools in our Board and a few other teachers, consultants and administrators.  We want to get the date out early so everyone can attend.  There will be much more on that later.

The best part of the day was that we were able to spend our lunch hour with our colleague, Daniella, who was one of the original members of our TLLP team who was sick this year.  

Our next steps are to finalize the lesson plans for our use of the comic books/graphic novels, publish our findings from the Semester 1 student surveys and our teacher survey, and plan the activities for our final sharing session.  Also, we will continue our program in our Semester 2 classes.
