One of the ways that we will be using our iPad's is to use Google Apps for Education. Our Board calls it Tools2Go. Today, Joe Sisco, our Board's Google Guy (he is a Certified Google Teacher) came to our school to help my three classes explore Google Drive and use Google Docs and Google Presentations to collaborate.
It was a really great day and students agreed that it was the coolest thing they had seen in a while.
I am really looking forward to the students getting the iPads and using them for collaborate in the classroom. I have so many ideas about how to use the iPads to differentiate instruction and get students collaborating in new ways. But, the idea that they can work on a document simultaneously and in real time is very exciting. Also, Google Drive eliminates the excuses - "So-and-so is away and has the presentation" or "I forgot my jump drive" or "This program doesn't work with my presentation" - are gone. I have an Apple TV in my room and they are many in use in our school. I love to mirror with my own iPad and laptop. It is going to be really exciting to have students mirror their work onto the Apple TV & projector from the class iPads. I love to be able to offer them some ways to interact with technology that will make them more ready for the future. Oooh, I am going to make a video.
All we are waiting for now is the sync cart and we will have the iPads in our students' hands. I can hardly wait.
