Parental Involvement and Consent

As part of our project, we wanted to involve the parents, at least to the point of explaining the project and inviting them to follow this blog and website.  I was inspired by the words of Annie Kidder, of People for Education who spoke at the Summit for our last TLLP.  She suggested that teachers are doing interesting work but parents and the public don't really get to know much about these initiatives.

We tackled this issue by sending home a letter to the students in my classes outline the project and how they could follow along digitally through reading our blog and exploring our website.

I was also concerned about getting proper consent to allow us to use their children's work, as well as their photos and video images.  I thought it would be helpful to include this letter and our Board consent form in case they might be useful to others.
