Now that the TLLP conference is done, I am excited to start the project. One idea I got while I was at the conference was to do a monthly newsletter. I was struck by something that Anne Kidder said at the TLLP Sharing Summit (for our last TLLP project) in November of 2012. She is the director of People for Education and she was a keynote speaker at the Summit. She said that teachers have to communicate the great things that we do to the public to counteract the negative image that teachers sometimes have in the media. I have been thinking of ways to do that since hearing her in November. The idea for a newsletter came from one of the possible project artifacts mentioned at the conference last week. It seemed to me to be the perfect way to communicate with our parents, administrators, fellow teachers, PAC and even students. I am going to post them on our website as we go along.
I have also been working on the website in preparation for our first release day. It is going to be fun to choose the books we will order. It will also be great to order the iPad minis.
I feel much better prepared this time, after our experience with the 2011-2012 TLLP project we did a few years ago. I am anxious for the funding to arrive so we can begin our project in earnest.
